Individual Membership Pathway

1. Student Member

Any student either or fulltime/part-time or extramural, associated with a tertiary education provider, with some study component in the area of occupational health and safety, may become a General Member, Student. There is no application fee with this level of membership. On completion of the application form, and receipt of this by the Branch, the applicant will retain this status for a 12 month period.

The General Member – Student shall only apply once (1 yr) after which full General Member requirements will apply. The General Member, Student will have no voting or office bearing rights.

2. General Member

Any person who is interested or involved in some aspect of occupational safety and health management and development may become a general member of the Institute on completing the application form and paying an application fee.

There is no other qualification required. This application is handled by the branch you intend to join.

3. Professional Member (MNZISM)

For general members who seek and gain the Institute's formal recognition of their skills, knowledge and experience in occupational health & safety management and practice.

Members can apply for registration as Professional Member by completing the application form in our Professional Standards Framework Publication (download below) and ask your branch manager for a covering letter to support your application.

Then send the application to the NZISM Gradings Panel P O Box 25107 St Heliers Auckland for consideration at their next sitting. If your original application is not successful, you will be given reasons for this decision and the opportunity to submit additional information.

Corporate and Business Membership

 
Corporate Member

A company, organisation or other institute may join the membership of the Institute as a corporate member. Corporate members shall nominate one employee (or one member of their organisation or institute) to act as their representative in the Institute’s activities.

Access to NZISM sponsored presentations and workshops on topical OH&S issues.
