Health & Safety Consultant

Industrial Engineering / Structural and Building Services

Have you got what it takes to work as a professional HSE Consultant for an industry leader in Building Services and Structural /Industrial Engineering Sector? 
Based in Auckland and reporting to the MD, the main objectives for the newly created role will be to champion safety for the commercial buildings/industrial side of the business whilst providing advisory services to the remainder of the client’s project teams.

It is expected you will lead initiatives for strengthening the health and safety culture, consistent with group wide initiatives. 

Essential to your success will be: 

  • Ability to provide professional advice, guidance and support for the organisation for compliance with Health and Safety legislative requirements Ability to lead and support Health and Safety excellence for the organisation by active management, auditing, monitoring and review of the systems and processes on the project sites
  • Having excellent interpersonal and communication skills and earn respect, influencing and coaching at all levels of the business.
  • Your ability to train staff to understand what forms a competent site-specific safety plan (and safety records).
  • A high level of skill for reporting on company and contractor health and safety statistics while driving a theme of continual improvement with all parties
  • Ability to identify as well as drive the proactive identification and accurate reporting of all hazards/incidents and accidents.
  • Work with designers so that safety becomes an integral part of the design process
  • This role may also involve the provision of specialist health and safety consulting    services to client
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience within this specific sector.

It is expected that you will be HSE tertiary / degree qualified, have a minimum of 5 years in the business, strong business acumen and the ability to contribute effectively to a strong performing workforce who care about the people within the organisation at all levels.
