Health and Safety Manager – Manufacturing – Multi Sites - South Auckland

 The client requires an experienced tertiary qualified Health and Safety Manager who has extensive experience in the manufacturing industry in NZ. No if and buts....

This person will identify business safety risks and be key to improving the company safety culture on a National basis across the company sites (Auckland)

The key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Co-ordinate, coach and conduct plant risk assessments and regular safety maintenance meetings
  • Compile effective toolbox talks and engage managers on effective delivery of safety communications
  • Facilitate safety training
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to achieve regulatory standards
  • Develop yearly safety plans and ensure delivery of targets and reporting
  • Conduct and coach others on incident investigations
  • Develop rehabilitation and return to work plans for injured employees
  • Review all ACC claims
  • Keep up to date with developments, including legislation, regulations, guidelines and best practice solutions
  • Collate monthly safety performance data for reporting
  • Co-ordinate communication & delivery of safety initiatives
  • Oversee and lead the NZ business units to achieve consistent standards and provide practical guidance, expert advice, direction and leadership to the Business unit Managers and Safety Co-ordinators at each plant

 The successful candidate should have:

  • Minimum 5 years safety leadership experience in multi-site manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline preferred
  • Strong capability in the area of hazard identification and control methods
  • Strong knowledge of NZ legislation
  • Ability to forge strong relationships with Managers and staff
  • Have a proven track record in coaching and influencing teams in safety
  • Confident speaking in group scenarios, and strong communication skills
  • Strength of personal resilience
  • Self motivation/ability to self manage a key strength
  • Able to travel when necessary to attend Group Safety meetings
